Description: During the five years Superman sought his home planet, things changed on his adopted planet. Nations moved on without him. Lois Lane now has a son, a fiance and a Pulitzer for "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." And Lex Luther has a plan that will destroy billions of lives. Filmmaker Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2) honors and takes the legend in a powerful new direction. Brandon Routh in the title role leads a top cast that includes Kate Bosworth as Lois and Kevin Spacey as Lex. And the thrills - from a sky-grapple with a tumbling jumbo jet to a continent-convulsing showdown - redefine Wow.

Pros: Excellent AQ, the Jumbo Jet Scene is Demo Material. 1080p Extras
Cons: Average PQ, The Movie Drags at Points.

If you are format Neutral, do yourself a favor and get the HD DVD version of the movie. The TrueHD track flat out rocks from the opening explosion of Krypton, to the intense plane crash, all the way to the final battle. It isn't just the action scenes as the softer music, the deep voice of Marlon Brando, and the famous John Williams theme sound excellent. The picture quality is soft and the dark and muted colors may turn off some of the fans of the original movies.

Pros: Overall great PQ, incredible sound, and it's Superman!
Cons: This is one disc where I would have preferred a non-combo. Normally I don't care, but Superman disc art would have been sweet.

Personally I really loved the look of this film. I would have given the PQ 9 if it were not for some slight posterization I noticed in one scene, so it'll get an 8. But the AQ is outstanding with the TrueHD track, reference in my book.

Pros: Great picture quality and a reference lossless audio track
Cons: It's a combo so there’s no artwork on the disc.

The close object detail in this film was phenomenal. There were a few shots that appeared soft and there was noticeable banding in several scenes during the film. Overall I’d rate the PQ as being great.

The audio is another story. The TrueHD track is reference quality.

I also thought Brandon Routh was great in the role of Clark Kent / Superman.

Pros: Incredible AQ, good to great PQ, and I love the movie.
Cons: Only that it's a combo.

I had seen this on SD many, many times, and saw it in theaters many, many times. The HD DVD is a huuuuge step up from the SD, and as accurate as it can get to what was in theaters. I wish it was more detailed, but that's the movie's fault, not the disc. But there are scenes that give me goosebumps in how amazing they look.

The sound is phenomenal. That'll do.

Great extras, great movie, great buy.

Pros: Great update to the Superman franchise
Cons: a bit long

The picture quality is great, but the audio is PHENOMENAL. There are multiple sequences in this movie that I could watch over and over again. The opening explosion, the jet sequence...The biggest con is that I get wrapped up in the story and stop paying attention to how excellent the surround track is. And its about 15 minutes too long.
